Ed. 1 Feat.: Paige Lisa Carter, Dizzy Fae, SpectraSoul, slumbur
Life’s better with great art in it — let’s spread some around.
In the run-down strip malls of the mid-00’s ATL post-hardcore scene, a young audiophile was born. I’d always loved and sought out music, but being in it ignited something fresh within me. The interconnectedness of a tight room filled to the brim with other people— just as energized and locked in to the experience of catharsis as you— was something my soul craved.
Even if I didn’t know a single person in the room, I knew I was home. Though the scene is widely diverse, ever-evolving, and changing, it remains an essential meeting communal meeting ground: a place where you can discover a sense of belonging in a sea of strangers.
So, thank you.
Thank you for opening yourselves up to a platform that aims to fuel growth for the beautiful underground music and art scene that gives home and hope to so many glorious weirdos.
By joining, you’ve opted for building bridges. For sowing appreciation. For fostering growth.
Welcome!
We’re dedicated to uplifting hidden gems in music, art, and fashion, acknowledging these interconnected facets. Our vision is to create a vibrant community of artists and art-appreciators that celebrates emerging innovators and visionaries.
Let’s dive in.
Visionary Artist Highlight
It’s a delight to announce Paige Lisa Carter as our first featured visionary artist! Her watercolors transport me to a place of deep groundedness and peace. Take a breath and experience it for yourself, with her stunning piece, “She Spun the World with Loving Threads”.
Carter’s artist statement of this piece cannot be summarized. You’ll have to read it for yourself to grasp the vulnerability of fragile humanness which she integrated into her expression of this stunning work. A true visionary.
Hand-Picked Music Selections
This edition’s hand-picked playlists will pair nicely with a viewing of Carter’s works. Guest playlist, by the delightful Shannon Randall, sets the pace with a soulful selection of melodic tunes. It will stack aptly along with my personal playlist contribution, “Soulo Exp”, as well as the moving mix featured in this edition, created by a trio of DJs from Canada.
In the “Freshies” playlist, you’ll find a diverse set of favorite tracks from 2024— and lots of bangers.
(Note: SoundCloud pays their artists much better than Spotify, hence why they are listed first)
Guest Playlist by Shannon Randall — SoundCloud / Spotify
soulful, ethereal, liquid dnb, downtempo
Playlist 1: 2024 Freshies — SoundCloud / Spotify
diverse!: R&B, indie electronica, bass, dnb, techno, grime
Playlist 2: Soulo Exp. — SoundCloud / Spotify
songs that resonate w/my soul: melodic, moving, cathartic
Featured Mix: horizon w/ slumbur, delakit, & ap0k
dreamy, bass, jazz, mid tempo, dreamwave chillout
(The vision of this mix could not have aligned with the Beatbrief better! It has moved me to tears more than once.)
Expect a lot of variety and deeper cuts with future editions! This is just the beginning.
Ethical Alternative Fashion Resources
I’m thrilled to be presenting our first featured fashion resources!
Lotus Tribe Clothing
Woman-owned, ethically made, eco-friendly, plenty of natural fibers, and classic designs— what more could you ask for out of a ‘yoga lifestyle wear’ company?

This “ninja rebel wear” is Fair Trade, and also utilizes natural materials. These durable, desert-inspired pieces will make you feel like you just walked off of Arrakis— designed by Pakistani founder, Ali, in honor of warrior traditions of the past.
(Note: in the future, look forward to more size-inclusive resources)
That wraps our first official edition! Hope you found something new that brightened your world. Can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.
Until next time— be well out there, everyone.
